2008

5th/6th January: Congratulations to all our riders in the National Cyclo-Cross Championships. Isla Rowntree won bronze in the Women's Championship. Tom Payton was 7th Junior; Kevin Payton 8th Vet; Hannah Payton 8th Girl; Robin Smith 19th Junior. Stourbridge was 3rd team overall.

13th January: More excellent cyclo-cross results at Derby - Tom Payton 4th Junior: Louise Robinson 2nd Lady: Kevin Payton 20th Vet and Hannah Payton 3rd U14 Girl.

27th January: another win for Tom Payton at Wolverhampton. Sister Hannah also won the U14 girls, Kevin 10th vet.

3rd February: Stourbridge 1, 2 at Lichfield 'cross: Tom 1st junior, Robin 2nd junior. Neil Hayward rides his debut 'cross and finished 18th. Overall standings will be posted later this week.

4th February: Final best WMCCL positions are: 1st junior: Tom Payton, 3rd junior Robin Smith, 1st U14 girl: Hannah Payton. Full SCC positions are on the results page.

17th February: WMCCL prize presentations: Tom Payton is awarded 1st overall junior and the most improved rider for the season, Robin Smith 3rd junior overall. Hannah Payton swept away prizes for 1st U16 girl, 1st U14 girl and 9th youth overall.

1st March: 3 Stourbridge road debutants ride at Paramount crits, Shrewsbury, Neil Hayward, Stefan Harrison and Tom Payton. All finished in the top 20. Dave Birch made 4th place in Wrekinsport Hilly TT.

8th March: Neil Hayward 5th at Shrewsbury crits. Tom Payton 10th, Stefan Harrison also rode. Huge turnouts on the Saturday off-road ride.

15th March: Antoher win for Stourbridge! Neil Hayward won the Paramount Crits at Shrewsbury in a bunch sprint. Tom Payton 10th, Kevin Payton and Stefan Harrison also rode and finished with the bunch.

29th, 30th March: Bryan Healy rode at Victoria Park crits, placed 9th & 7th. Off-road ride went around Clent, approximately 15 riders. 5 rode the Cheshire cat sportive. Robin Smith 5th at Hanchurch Woods S-o-T.

3rd April: Stourbridge evening 10's returned with a decent turnout of 12 riders.

6th April: Robin Smith finished 3rd junior in the snow at Walton on Trent. Neil & Stefan rode the Paramount road race and finished 20th & 21st in their first road competition.

13th April: Neil Hayward 3rd in R Sutton road race, Stefan Harrison 9th. The LVRC road race at Bobbington was a resounding success, see the report.

20th April: Neil Hayward 10th in the Two Counties RR.

27th April: Neil Hayward finished in the bunch at Lichfield RR. Roger Allen the sole SCC rep at the Beacon Hilly TT with a time of 2:04:22. 26th April: Wayne Baker represents SCC in Somerset 10. Julian Kirkpatrick 13th at Gloucester 25 with 59:58.

1st May: 14 riders at SCC 10 at Halfpenny Green. Stefan Harrison rode the South Staffs & Shropshire RR league.

3rd May: Julian Kirkpatrick 20th in Coventry CC10. (23:33).

8th May: Stefan 7th in S Staffs RR league, Isla also competed. .

10th May: 8 SCC riders took part in the Three Rivers audax

17th May: Kevin Payton rode at Shrewsbury circuit races. 15th May; Stefan 10th in S Staffs RR league.

15th June: 23 SCC riders at the Shropshire Highlands Challenge, all in orange! Julian Kirkpatrick 8th in Liverpool Century 25 with 59:00.

28th June: Stefan 5th at Leamington 10 with a time of 22:33. A total of 48 SCC riders on rides today.

29th June: Julian Kirkpatrick 4th in the Matlock 25.

6th July: Stefan completes the Etape du Tour.

13th July: 38 riders counted from SCC at the very successful Diabetes Ride, the best turnout ever according to the organisers. Julian Kirkpatrick rides to 57:26 at the Warwickshire RC '25'.

20th July : SCC rider Amanda Barber won the single speed class at Hit the North in the solo 12 hour female category.

27th July: Good weather encourages 18 riders on the 0830 ride, 2 new members.

2nd August: Stefan makes PB for Rugby 10 with 21:43.

9th August: Stefan 5th Vet in Rudy Project TT.

16th August:Stefan 8th in Coventry CC 25.

24th August: 8 SCC riders take part in the Wild Wales Challenge at Bala.

30th August: Stefan makes new pb 21:06 in diamodhf.com 10.

31st August: 14 out on 0830 ride to The Clee Hills.

10th September: Many SCC riders watch the Tour of Britain on local roads.

14th September: A large peloton of orange left Stourbridge at 0830 for a ride to Bradley.

20th September: 17 riders out on off-road 9.30 ride.

21st September: Redditch CX: 4 SCC riders in the top 10 of their respective events. Nat trophy; Hannah Payton 3rd, Isla 3rd. All SCC results

28th September: 3-Peaks results: Tom Payton 1st U23, Robin Smith 2nd U23. All other SCC finishers improved their previous times. Results

5th October: 4 SCC members ride the Fred Williams Scramble, 2 ride the National Trophy 'cross.

12th October: Wally Fowler wins gold in the World Masters Track Championships 500m time trial. 5 SCC riders in Lichfield 'cross, Hannah Payton best performer as 1st girl/7th o/all youth. All SCC results. Les Archer retained the Buckshee Wheelers 10 Bully Beef Trophy. 2 minutes clear with 25:30

26th October: Hannah Payton wins National Series 'cross event and takes the overall lead.

3rd November: Plenty of action at the clubroom with the 2nd roller racing league night, winner Jamie Dainton. Results.

8th November: Successful Go-Ride event from The Bonded warehouse, our youngest riders had an exciting afternoon.

15/16 November: 20 riders take part in the Saturday off-road ride. Hannah and Isla both 4th in their respective events in the National cyclo-cross series at Mallory Park.

1st December: roller racing league, U14 Jack wins the evenings competition.

14th December: Isla and Hannah both 4th in their respective National cyclo-cross series events.

21st December: 25 out on the 0830 Holly run and more on the touring ride, meeting at The Hollybush. Sad news, our friend & fellow club member "Stemmy" died on 20th December following a long illness.

31st March: 8 Stourbridge riders rode the ultra-hilly Picklescott audax. Bryan Healy gains some BC points at Leamington (25th March). Mike Donnelly 7th at VC Sevale 10. Roger Allen appointed Club Member of the Year.

7th - 10th April: Roger Iddles takes a win at Birkenhead NE Hilly TT, 2nd at VTTA open 10, Princethorpe, 2nd Staffs Oatcakes RR and 1st Vet Hereford 25. Mike Donnelly 3rd Vets actual in Rudy Project round 2. Tim Goodall and Chris Taylor compete off-road at Thetford.

14th/15th April: Roger Iddles scores 2nd (1st on standard) at CDLCA 10 at Leicester and 2nd at Mark Ide memorial road race, Worcester. Andy Waite and Wayne Baker represent Stourbridge at Stratford 10. Eight off-roaders covered 50Km at New Radnor on Sunday in our Rough Ride training ride.

21st/22nd April: Mark Hammond wins Two Counties Road Race, Bridgnorth. Roger Iddles, 1st in Rudy Project (target time) round 3 at Nottingham and 1st Claverdon LVRC RR. Three members rode the Elinith audax on Saturday. Clubrun: Wallys' birthday ride went to Evesham.

28/29th April: Roger Iddles 2nd in MDLCA invitation 10. 14 off-road riders go to Coed y Brenin, 18 attend clubrun to Elmbridge.

5th May: Dave Birch wins Coventry CC 10 tandem event with James Ratcliff of Wolverhampton Wheelers. Roger Iddles 7th overall in Tour of Abberleys.

12th May: Mike Donnelly 2nd LVRC Martley RR (1ST a CAT). Roger Iddles 4th in VTTA 10 championship. 13 Stourbridge riders took part in the three rivers audax, 10 away on tour and 2 took part in the Fred Whitton Challenge in the lake district. more...

27th May: Roger Iddles 1st in his age category in Sevale Silver Road Race, Mark Hammond 20th in a high class field at The Echelon Cycles Road Race. Julian Kirkpatrick makes his tt debut with an excellent 23:50 for a 10 and 58:49 for a 23.

3rd June: 13 off roaders ride the Rough Ride in Kington, Mark Hammond represented SCC at the div. champs, rode well for 5 laps but was unable to finish due to cramp. Roger Iddles won his age category in the National 25. Wayne Baker won the Belgian Trike Championship but was not crowned due to his nationality. Dave Birch won the Bynea CC50. 13th June: Dave Birch 4th in SCCA 25

17th June: Roger Iddles wins the Bournemouth Wheelers Jubilee 10 with a time of 20:32. Club riders conquer the Shropshire Highlands Challenge at Ludlow.

19th, 20th June: Roger Iddles breaks his own National Age Record for a 10 with 20:24 then 2nd in the West Cheshire 10, fastest vet with 21:00.

23rd/24th June: Dave Birch won the West Wales CL 100 with 3:56:30, newcomer Julian Kirkpatrick made a brilliant ride in the Hinkley CRC10 with 22:59. and again on Sunday at the Hinkley CRC 25 with 59:56 - 13th place.

15th July: Roger Iddles won the Great Gidding RR, Sawtry. At least 14 Stourbridge riders took part in the Redditch Audaxes.

8th July: Wayne Baker rode the International trike crit in Hyde Park.

28th, 29th July: Sat Roger Iddles 1st vet on standard at Echelon Cycles '10' K33/10 with 21:41. Sun 1st vet on standard in Echelon Cycles '25' K33/25, 54:47

11th August: 4 Stourbridge riders took part in the Rudy Project round 5 event at Bobbington. Best placed Stourbridge riders, Mike Donnelly (7th actual) and Roger Iddles (2nd target). Also competed Mark Hammond and Julian Kirkpatrick.

18th/19th August:Saturday, Roger Iddles scored a 2nd place at Darley Moor LVRC races, Sunday he made another 2nd place at the LVRC Lutterworth Road Race.

26th August: 3 SCC riders took part in the TOB sportiv from Worcester to Wolverhampton and2 riders took part in the Wild Wales Challenge.

2nd September: Roger Iddles gained the National Championship jersey at the British Time Trial Championships at Holmes Chapel in his age range.

9th September: SCC riders mark Hammond and Bryan Healy rode the Tour of the Wrekin at Bridgnorth. 16 riders out on 0830 ride to Upton-on-Severn.

15th/16th September: 31 riders on the off-road Saturday ride, 14 out on the Sunday 0830 ride. Highest scorer in the first cyclo-cross race of the season at Rugeley: Hannah Payton, 2nd girl Scott O'Neil a creditable 11th senior in his debut 'cross.

23rd September: Tom Payton to receive an award from the Dudley Schools' Sports Association for Sporting Excellence, for outstanding achievement in cyclo-cross. 4 out for the Llandelga ride, 16 on the 0830 ride.

30th September: Tom Payton won at the WMCCL round 2 at Rosliston, sister Hannah 1st girl. dad Kevin was 12th vet and Scott O'Niell 12th senior. A good team rode the Cambrian Challenge.

7th October: Hannah Payton 1st girl at Bromsgrove 'cross, Robin Smith makes his racing debut in the junior race and finished 5th. 16 SCC riders enjoy a weekend away at Southam.

14th October: Seven Stourbridge riders competed in the Fred Williams cyclo-cross at Wolverhampton, our best placings: Isla Rowntree 1st lady, Thomas Payton 2nd junior.

21st October: Tom Payton wins the Baggeridge cross, sister Hannah 2nd girl, 10 Stourbridge riders competed.

28th October: Isla proves her quality with 2nd at Ipswich National Trophy. Tom Payton 12th junior, Hannah 3rd U14 girl. Meanwhile at Solihull WMCCL 'cross, Robin Smith manages 5th junior, Roger Allen 12th Vet, Scott O'Neill 18th senior on a very muddy course.

4th November: 51 riders (31 Stourbridge) took part in the SCC sportiv with most of the ride done in foggy conditions. Results here.

11th November: Blackwell Court cyclo-cross, Louise Robinson 1st lady, Tom Payton 2nd overall after a close sprint, Robin Smith 7th junior, Kevin Payton 13th vet, Roger Allen 21st vet, Carol Rowntree 6th lady, Hannah Payton 2nd girl, Scott O'Neill 32nd senior.

18th November: National Trophy cyclo-cross at Mallory Park, Isla & Louise make a 1-2 in the womens race, Tom and Hannah Payton finish 8th in their respective events. This leaves Isla in 4th place overall in the series.

25th November: Tom Payton 2nd at Mallory Park WMCCL, Hannah 2nd girl. Isla & Louise 1st & 2nd ladies at the Yorkshire 'cross league.

2nd December: A very wet day saw Tom Payton win the Junior Midland Area Cyclo-Cross Championships at Derby. Hannah 2nd girl, Kevin 16th vet.

9th December: National trophy 'cross at Bradford, Louise Robinson narrowly missed a win to come in 2nd, Isla 3rd. Tom Payton 5th junior. Kevin 25th vet. Redditch WMCCL 'cross - Hannah 1st girl, Robin Smith 12th (3rd j), Roger Allen 13th (10th vet), Scott O'Niell Gwilliams 11th senior.

16th December: Tom Payton takes a well-deserved win at Shipston-on-Stour cyclo-cross. Robin Smith 4th junior, Kevin Payton 8th vet.

23rd December: 16 riders braved the ice to attend the Holly Run and met many old friends at the Hollybush, Belbroughton.

30th December: Tom Payton 1st junior at NE Midlands cyclo-cross at Bakewell, Hannah 1st girl.

Sister Hannah came in second girl in the youths race, 14th overall, a commendable achievement as she rides with youths up to 3 years her senior.
